Trivia

“When the World Falls Apart” (or WTWFA) is often referred to as the first song Bryce ever wrote. In actuality, it is closer to the 5th. The reason it gets the honor of #1 is because it was the first complete set of lyrics and music. The songs written before this one were lyrics only, and most of them were deleted by the time Bryce started officially numbering his songs.

This song was first performed with Bryce’s high school band, Rascality, and even made it onto their debut EP, A Day at the Fair. Nothing about the structure of this song has changed since 2004.

The original intro/main guitar riff for this song was quite different, but soon got replaced for what you hear now. The original part was later recycled for a song called “Why Can’t It Be Me?”, which is likely to show up in a future installment of The Archives.

WTWFA takes most of its influence from Blink-182’s “Stay Together For The Kids,” from the album Take Off Your Pants and Jacket. The structure and main riff are very similar, so Bryce chose a different key signature to give more separation.
