Lyrics
Well I had a dream last night
That I had met a girl
She was beautiful to me
Too bad it was just a dream
I know that good ones do exist
But none of them could be like this
I am not asking for that much
I am just longing for her touch
Chorus:
She’s the girl of my dreams
Yet she doesn’t exist
I’ve been longing for her
To grant me this wish
I’ve been searching the world
Forever, it seems
But I can’t seem to find
That girl of my dreams
I was daydreaming again
And that is when I saw her
Really wish I knew her name
‘Cause dreaming is getting really lame
I don’t think I could ever find
A girl who won’t leave me behind
I can’t get her out of my mind
Why am I always last in line?
(Chorus)
Tell me where she’s gone to now!
She solved all my problems
And granted my wish
She gave my world peace
With just one small kiss
But to my surprise
When I woke, she was gone
That girl of my dreams
Was a dream all along

Trivia
The working title for this song was “The Disco Song,” because one of Bryce’s first band mates thought the opening riff sounded like disco music.
The influences for this song were “Kiss Me, Diss Me” by Home Grown, and “Fat Lip” by Sum 41.
This song was based on a real dream Bryce had about meeting a girl at high school and falling in love. He woke up the next morning, got all the way ready for school, and only then did he realize he couldn’t remember her name, because she didn’t exist.
“Girl of My Dreams” was first performed by Bryce’s high school band, Rascality, and first appeared on their debut EP, A Day at the Fair.
Of all the songs on The Archives: 1–10, this is the most likely to appear in a Midnight Notion set list.
During the bridge section (after the guitar solo), Bryce typically sings the chorus lyrics to “MMMBop” by Hanson, just for fun. At holiday-themed shows, he sometimes sings “Jingle Bells, Batman Smells” instead.
