Lyrics
Late at night
You feel distress
Your life’s a mess
You’re looking for some love
But I’ve played this game
It’s all the same
I’m not the one
You think you’re thinking of
Something inside me
Remembers the show you put on
I do my best
To get some rest
Endure this test
Until you’re really gone
It’s over
Whether or not you know
You’ve been falling apart
Your broken heart
Is ripped out and it’s
Bleeding on the floor
Forgive me I
Ain’t got the time
For whining, crying, lying anymore
Did you forget?
You cause despair
You say you need me
I don’t care
Chorus
It’s over, whether or not you know
It’s over, whether or not you feel deprived
Deep inside
I’m sorry, but you lost
It’s over, whether or not you know
Whether or not you know
You find the little men
You use them then
You lose them when they’re
Only wanting more
Did you honestly
Think I would be
The one who’d finally
Fall down at your door?
Don’t try to deny it
You know it’s so wrong
It seems I was better
Alone all along!
(Chorus)

Trivia
Since its release, “It’s Over” has had two minor changes: coming out of the first verse, the lyrics have been updated to say “It’s over, whether or not you know,” instead of repeating “it’s over” twice in a row; secondly, the two-measure acoustic guitar solo before the full band comes in is now played on an electric guitar with overdrive on.
This song is one of two reasons March to Midnight exists. The record was originally supposed to be a demo called The Band Quest Demo, but when Bryce wrote “It’s Over” in one night, he decided it needed to be released. The other “happy accident” song was “I Feel Bad For You.”
