The Lone Wolf
Lyrics
Into the wild
Abandoned, alone
Cast out by everything that I know
The chill of the night
Forever my home
By light of the moon, I stand on my own
Say you’ll be there just as you hold me down
Lead me to water just to watch me drown
I don’t need you anymore
Chorus
Guess I’m gonna do it by myself this time
And walk away standing tall
You’ll see, that my fire’s still alive
I will never fall
Yes, I’m gonna do it by myself this time
And in everything I do
You’ll find me on the rise, I know
I will not need you!
The strength to endure
The will to survive
Releasing the beast I’ve held up inside
Chaos: the feed for this eternal vow
I’m taking the lead—no one can stop me now!
I don’t need you anymore!
(Chorus)
Fall out! Break down!
Old self dies
(Feel the change deep down inside)
Wake up! Break out!
Born to rise
(Feel the change deep down inside)
Shake up! Take down!
All I’ve known
(Feel the change deep down inside)
Wake up! Break out!
Everywhere I roam!
Trivia
The intro riff calls back to a hard rock instrumental (“Intro”) that was removed from an earlier version of the record. The instrumental had an outro variation that was supposed to close the record as well. After receiving some feedback on the full-album demo, Bryce decided to drop both instrumentals and the second track, “Prove Myself,” in favor of “The Lone Wolf.”
This song was heavily influenced by Breaking Benjamin.
This song was titled and artwork for the single was drafted before any of the music or lyrics had been written.
