We’ve Come So Far
Lyrics
They chewed us up and spit us out
They tried to fill our minds with doubt
We made it through together
We got through stormy weather
And it doesn’t matter
Because the past is far behind us now
Just look at where we are
Chorus
We’ve come so far
When they tried to bring us down
We stood our ground and found a
Strong connection
We’ve come so far
And the end, it isn’t near us
It won’t steer us in the
Wrong direction
The path we chose flipped upside-down
But thanks to hope, we still turned out
Don’t worry if there’s problems
We’ll help each other solve them
And if they laugh, we’ll ROCK them
And they won’t know what hit them to the ground
Just look at where we are
They said that we couldn’t make it
But we just couldn’t take it
We gave it our best shot
Now look at what we’ve got
(Chorus)
TWO! THREE! FOUR!
Yeah!
They said that we would not last
That we were on a decline
But I believe that we have
Shown them this time
To say the least, we got past
And left the rest all behind
Since up is where we’re going
We should start right now
Yeah!
Just look at where we are
Trivia
“We’ve Come So Far” is one of the longest-lasting and least-altered songs from Somewhere in Dreamworld. It was written in 2006 and remains almost exactly the same as it always has been, including the lyrics and the guitar solo.
The main riff was inspired by a motif in the Jungle Falls level of Diddy Kong Racing on the Nintendo 64—one of Bryce’s all-time favorite games.
This song is about Bryce’s relationship with rock music. It was written at a time when the band name/pseudonym was Airport Weather. The line “we got through stormy weather” was a self-reference at a time. Now it’s a deep-cut reference only few will understand.
