On top of being a great digital music distributor, CD Baby is also a great resource for independent artists. Their DIY Musician Podcast provides so much wonderful insight, and they always take the time to answer listener questions…including mine!
When it came time to distribute March to Midnight, I chose CD Baby based on their reputation, and I’m glad I did! Their newsletters are filled with content that relates to my personal journey as an independent artist, and it’s coming from other independent artists. They’re the reason my music is available everywhere online, and their advice frequently re-energizes my passion for making music.
On a recent episode of their podcast, one of the hosts mentioned that he feels burdened by his backlog of unreleased music, because it feels like his new ideas have to wait. If there’s anyone who understands the burden of a gigantic backlog, it’s me. 10 years after its inception, Somewhere in Dreamworld still hasn’t been released. Don’t worry! It’s on the list!
Anyway, I thought I’d write into the podcast with a question about PRO submissions (related to unreleased songs), assuming they’d never read it. I was so wrong. Within hours, host Kevin Breuner responded, saying:
Bryce,
Some excellent questions there.
We’ll tackle these on the next episode of the podcast.
